Gravity: Teens Getting Grounded in the Faith Every Sunday, 12 months per year In this small group atmosphere for teenagers, we’re more able to get deeper into the things of faith. With topics ranging from "discover the person of Jesus" to "the function of the Holy Spirit", you’ll be sure that you walk away a little heavier... and not because of the donuts. Come with questions that need answers. Come with an open heart to hear the truth hidden in the pages of Scripture. Most importantly, know that you’re voice is important... and wanted. Just remember... the only dumb questions are the ones not asked. If you need something a little more solid in your faith... c’mon... get grounded. Class Location: Across from Pastor Mike’s Office – Room 5 |

Location: Room 14 (across from the reception desk) John’s Letters June, July and August 2010 When we strip away what is superficial, cultural or traditional, what is the essence of genuine Christianity? What qualities and beliefs must be present in a living and life-changing faith? John’s letters focus on the three most important aspects of the Christian life and were written in response to false teachings circulated by teachers embracing an early form of heresy known as Gnosticism. These teachers taught that matter was entirely evil and spirit was entirely good. This lead to two fundamental errors that required correction for the sake of maintaining the purity of the gospel and for reassuring those in true fellowship who were unsettled and shaken by the false teachers. In response to the “new” theology that denied the incarnation, John provides us with a doctrinal test: what does a person believe about Christ? In response to the “new” morality that claimed ethical distinctions were no longer relevant, he provides us with a moral test: how does a person respond to the commandments of Christ? Finally, John provides us with a social test: does the person love other Christians? With power and simplicity, he helps us focus our attention on what really matters – both now and for eternity. During this study, we will spend time in personal and corporate Bible study and you will be strengthened as you actively participate in this study. Teachers: Luke Loomis, Gerry Frey Location: 7 (Fellowship Hall), 14 (across from the reception desk) For more information and to signup for these courses, please see Penny Petty at the Information Desk in the Narthex. |
