LWAGMEMBERSHIP
If you’ve been coming to LWAG for some time, you may have come to the point where you would like to know about membership. You probably have questions like:

– what is it?
- why should I consider it?
- what’s expected of me?
- how do I become a member?

If that’s where you’re at, then you’ve come to the right place.

THEREASON
Membership is primarily about commitment and is an acknowledgement on your part that you would like to formally identify with LWAG as your home church. It is a recognition on your part that God wants your commitment to Him to have a practical and personal identity. It is also about a commitment on our part to you that you are now part of the LWAG family and that we are responsible to care for you as only family can.

THEPROCESS
We have a formal process for membership. First, you must sign up and attend two classes. The first class, Church 101: Discovering Church Membership, meets for 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon and the second, Finding Your Feet: Our Core Beliefs, is a 13 week adult Sunday school class. In these classes, you will learn about our church and our core beliefs. It is an opportunity for you to make sure that our church is right for you. Attendance at these classes does not obligate you to join the church so please feel free to attend and please bring your questions.

Regarding a few obvious questions, first membership is for adults 18 years of age and over. Also, you are free to attend the membership classes whenever they are offered – you don’t need to have attended LWAG for a prearranged time prior to signing up. Finally, faithful attendance at these classes is required as this is not only your opportunity to learn about us but our’s to get to know you.


Class meeting times are announced in the church bulletin and you can signup at the Get Connected table. Typically, the classes are offered once a quarter three times per year. Quarters run from September to November (fall), December to February (winter), and March through May (spring).

THECOURSES
Church 101: Discovering Church Membership – Class 1
Church 101 provide insights into our church’s beliefs and practices, and along with a second class titled Our Core Beliefs, is required for anyone interested in becoming a member at Living Word Assembly of God Church (although taking either class does not obligate you to join the church). In this three hour class, we review the Living Word Assembly of God Church ministry strategy in terms of who we are trying to reach and the spiritual commitments which people are being called to. Church structure, vision and beliefs are reviewed. Finally, we provide information what it means to be a Christian, our church practices, and our local and denominational heritage.

Finding Your Feet: Our Core Beliefs – Class 2
This class focuses on the core beliefs of Living Word Assembly of God Church. The intention of this class is to provide participants with a thorough knowledge of the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. During the course of this 12 week study, you will learn about the following topics: (1) God, (2) the Trinity, (3) Jesus, (4) the Holy Spirit, (5) Man and the Fall, (6) the Church, (7) Creation, (8) Worship, and (9) End Times. In addition, we will spend one week discussing the nature of the Bible and review ways to study it. Over the course of the last three weeks, we will explore personal ministry and review ministry opportunities within Living Word Assembly of God Church where you can become involved.

This class, open to anyone wishing to study these topics, is the second of two courses that attendees of Living Word Assembly of God Church are required to participate in prior to becoming church members. We strongly believe that membership is an important step in the process of growing in one’s Christian life and equally strongly believe that before entering into this commitment you be completely aware of the essential doctrines that Living Word Assembly of God Church believes, practices and teaches. This class, along with Church 101, are the first two classes in a sequence of five classes in the New Believers track of the Adult Christian Education curriculum.
